You will delve into the world of video games at one of the best campuses in Europe.
At UFV you will learn to create stories, design, program and market them in state-of-the-art facilities. Your day-to-day life will be spent in the IMAC or WACOM labs, on TV sets and radio studios, in the videogame lab, in the editing and post-production rooms and in the production company. Career Opportunities
Some of the career opportunities of the university degree in Videogame Creation and Narration are:
- Game designer: designs all aspects of a game from its mechanics to its story. They can specialize in areas such as level design, narrative design or gameplay design.
- Technical artist: is one of the most current and in-demand roles in the industry. This is an artist with knowledge in programming and graphic engines, which allows them to directly implement their work in the videogame without the need to depend on other departments.
- Programmer: responsible for creating the game logic and algorithms, programming mechanics and tools for the team.
- 2D artist: creates illustrations and animations for the game, specializing in characters, environments or objects, as well as interfaces and promotional elements.
- Data analyst: uses metrics and data analytics to make decisions about the development and balance of the game.
- 3D artist: models 3D elements and applies textures, specializing in characters, environments or objects.
- 3D animator: responsible for adding animations to the 3D models made by the artists. Before the animations can be created, the models must be “rigged”, adding virtual bones to them so that they behave in a natural way when animations are added. This task is so extensive that they may specialize only in rigging.
- QA Tester: responsible for testing the game and detecting and reporting any bugs.
- Concept artist: creates the first conceptual images of the game, transforming ideas into illustrations. Later these illustrations are reworked at higher quality or in 3D for the final product.
- Producer: supervises the development of the game and manages the needs of each department in an integral way.
