WHAT ARE WE? VAS is a student society that provides support to students with social concerns who wish to make a positive impact on the world through volunteer work.

WHO ARE WE? VAS is comprised of students from all academic years who are driven by a desire to make a positive impact on society and the world, starting with themselves. We are an open society at UFV for individuals with social concerns who wish to drive change on campus and beyond..

OUR MISSION. From VAS, we aim to advance social service activities, engaging the university community in solidarity projects that enhance the quality of life for underserved individuals and communities, while also transforming the social reality in which they reside. To provide students with social concerns with the opportunity to engage in volunteer activities, with the aim of training them and encouraging critical thinking.

VISION/OBJECTIVE OF VAS

  • The objective is to promote solidarity and ensure the committed training of future professionals in all sectors, with the goal of creating a more just and supportive social reality.
  • Our objective is to become a model society of students, setting the standard for social commitment.

VISION/OBJECTIVE OF THE VAS OF THE STUDENTS

  • To effect global change, we must begin with the reality that surrounds us, with our immediate environment.
  • To collaborate with the most disadvantaged communities and contribute to the creation of a more equitable society.
  • To disseminate this necessity to the entire student body at the university.
  • To prompt students to reflect on their personal values and consider how they can contribute to society through social commitment and service to others.

OUR VALUES. Commitment, solidarity, honesty, generosity, friendship, proactivity, spirit of self-improvement, responsibility and service.

TRAINING. VAS’s objective is to provide its members with the support and guidance they need to succeed in their volunteering roles. To achieve this, we offer a range of services and resources to facilitate their participation in volunteering activities. Firstly, all activities are conducted with the guidance of one or more trainers from the Acción Social team, who share their expertise with the participants. Please be advised that in order to register for these activities, it is a prerequisite to attend the training meetings that take place every Wednesday at 12:30 pm. Finally, a reflection and meeting space is provided at the conclusion of each activity, during which trainers and students can learn from the experience.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE. Please send an email to vas@ufv.es with your full name, last name, current position, course of study, and ID number. Alternatively, you may visit the Acción Social department, located in Módulo 3 of the main building. We will contact you directly with further details. We look forward to welcoming you! Additionally, the virtual classroom provides a comprehensive repository of information, including details about activities, training, an updated calendar, downloadable documents, and a forum for sharing experiences.

DO YOU HAVE A PROJECT? Should you have any queries regarding volunteering initiatives, please do not hesitate to contact us at d.delarosa@ufv.es. We are pleased to assist you with advice, support, and follow-up on your project, provided it meets the appropriate requirements.

International Volunteering

  • HUMANITARIAN MISSIONS. The objective of these missions is to provide students with the opportunity to reflect on the meaning of their actions and to encourage them to integrate heart, reason, and action by putting themselves at the service of society. For a period of more than two weeks, you will have the opportunity to participate in a distinctive program that combines social projects, training, and networking with a cultural immersion experience. The program is structured around three core elements.

Program:

  • SOCIAL PROJECTS. To gain insight into the challenges facing the African population, students will engage in volunteer work with disadvantaged communities.
  • TRAINING AND NETWORKING. Students will have the opportunity to engage in meetings and conferences with relevant personalities in the field of cooperation and development. This activity will enable students to expand their professional network and gain valuable insights into addressing inequality within international organizations. Our objective is to exert influence over decision-making processes in order to facilitate social change. We view university students as a driving force for change in our society and aim to place them at the center of the issues to facilitate their engagement.
  • DIFFERENTIATING CULTURAL EXPERIENCE. The program will include a presentation on the country’s roots and culture. Students will gain insight into the historical and social context that has shaped the current situation in these countries.
