This is an opportunity for students of the Universidad Francisco de Vitoria to learn German, as well as for others interested in the language. At the UFV Language Center, we offer a range of courses aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Our courses are taught in small groups, with a focus on meeting your individual needs. Our dynamic, communicative, and highly practical methodology ensures an engaging and effective learning experience. To determine which course best suits your needs, please complete the level test.

METHODOLOGY

The courses are developed with a dynamic and communicative methodology that empowers students to take ownership of their learning journey. Our methodology is based on a practical approach that utilizes effective tasks to facilitate the student’s advancement in language mastery. The class sizes (7 to 14 students) foster an environment where students can take the lead and actively engage.

EVALUATION

The courses are subject to continuous evaluation, with the following assessment criteria taken into account:

  • 50% Objective tests (partial and final)
  • 40% Activities (in and out of the classroom) and independent work
  • 10% Active participation

A2 LEVEL COURSE:

The objective of the A2 level is to enhance the student’s fundamental communicative abilities, both oral and written. The objective at the conclusion of this level is for the student to demonstrate comprehension of language pertaining to everyday experiences (family, shopping, places of interest, occupations, etc.) and to engage in straightforward dialog on common topics (CEFR). It is estimated that 120 to 180 hours of classroom training are required to reach this level.

  • Duration: throughout the academic year, according to demand (November/April).
  • Number of hours: 40 classroom hours and 20 hours of personal work.
  • Number of students: small groups, minimum 3 and maximum 8.
  • Timetable: to be defined, two hours, two days a week.
B1 LEVEL COURSE:

The objective of the B1 level is to enhance the student’s proficiency in oral and written communication. The objective at the conclusion of this level is for the student to demonstrate proficiency in understanding and expressing main ideas in standard language on familiar topics related to work, study, and leisure. Additionally, the student should be able to describe experiences, events, desires, and aspirations, as well as provide a brief justification for their opinions or explain their plans (CEFR). It is estimated that 120 to 180 hours of face-to-face training is required to reach this level.

  • Duration: throughout the academic year, according to demand (November/April).
  • Number of hours: 40 hours of face-to-face training and 20 hours of personal work.
  • Number of students: small groups, minimum 3 and maximum 8.
  • Timetable: to be defined, two hours, two days a week.
COURSE LEVEL B2:

The objective of the B2 level is to enhance the student’s communication abilities, both verbal and written. The objective at the conclusion of this level is for the student to demonstrate the ability to comprehend complex texts on a diverse range of concrete and abstract subjects within their area of expertise. They will be able to use language fluently and naturally, producing texts on a variety of topics and defending their point of view. It is estimated that 120 to 200 hours of classroom training are required to reach this level. This level is an essential stepping stone for students seeking to enter the global workforce. It equips them with the skills to navigate professional settings with ease.

  • Number of hours: 40 hours of classroom training and 20 hours of personal work.
  • Number of students: small groups, minimum 3 and maximum 8.

COURSE LEVEL C1:

The objective of the C1 level is to enhance the student’s proficiency in oral and written communication. The objective at the conclusion of this level is for the student to demonstrate the ability to comprehend a diverse range of sophisticated and specialized texts within their field of expertise, with a certain degree of challenge. They will be able to express themselves fluently and spontaneously, making flexible and effective use of the language for social, academic, and professional purposes with some difficulty. It is estimated that 120 to 200 hours of classroom training will be required to reach this level. This level is an essential stepping stone for those seeking to enter the global workforce, as it equips students with the ability to navigate professional settings with ease.

FIRST CERTIFICATE PREPARATION COURSE:

The First Certificate in English course provides students with the skills and knowledge required to successfully complete the Cambridge certification exam, which is equivalent to a B2 level (CEFR). The center is officially endorsed by Cambridge Preparatory Center, which attests to its effectiveness in preparing students for the five skills assessed in the exam. The course covers the following skills: reading, use of English, writing, listening, and speaking.

  • Duration: throughout the academic year, according to demand (November/May).
  • Number of hours: 90 classroom hours and 30 hours of independent work.
  • Number of students: small groups, minimum 3 and maximum 8.
  • Timetable: to be defined, two hours, two days a week.
CAMBRIDGE ADVANCED ENGLISH COURSE:

The Cambridge Advanced English course is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge required to successfully complete the Cambridge certification exam, which is equivalent to a C1 level (CEFR). The center is officially endorsed by Cambridge Preparatory Center, which attests to its effectiveness in preparing students for the five skills assessed on the exam. The course covers the following skills: reading, use of English, writing, listening, and speaking.

  • Duration: throughout the academic year, according to demand (November/May).
  • Number of hours: 90 classroom hours and 30 hours of independent work.
  • Number of students: small groups, minimum 3 and maximum 8.
