SOLIDARITY WITH THOSE AFFECTED BY THE DANA: HOW CAN WE HELP?
UFV INITIATIVES TO HELP FAMILIES AFFECTED BY THE DANA
The recent floods (DANA) that have hit different areas of Spain have left many people in situations of great need, but it has also awakened an immense wave of solidarity. From the Universidad Francisco de Vitoria, we are organizing several initiatives to coordinate aid in an efficient and effective way, both to address immediate emergencies and to offer continued support over time.
If you are looking for ways to collaborate, these are some of the ways you can help:
FINANCIAL DONATIONS
The economic contribution is one of the fastest and most efficient ways of contribution. We have set a bank account where you can make your donation, and all proceeds will go entirely to the Altius Foundation, which will manage the funds and distribute them according to the most urgent needs in the affected areas.
How can you donate?
- Bank Transfer:
Account number: ES60 0049 1916 1725 1098 9777 - Bizum (COMING SOON): Donate quickly from your cell phone. In addition, all donations are eligible for a tax deduction certificate.
EQUIPMENT COLLECTION
The UFV will be a collection point for equipment destined to the affected people in coordination with different aid points of the municipalities in the area. At this moment, the most needed items are non-perishable food, cleaning and disinfection products. We invite you to bring your donations to the area set up under the campus chapel. We also invite you to collaborate by organizing and classifying the products we receive, through the volunteer groups that will be managing this work. The equipment we need most are: buckets, mops, brushes, dustpans, shovels, bleach, ammonia, non-perishable food, hygiene and personal hygiene products, adult diapers, children’s diapers, baby milk and water.
VOLUNTEERING
Groups of student volunteers are being coordinated to carry out specific tasks in the affected areas and support actions from the campus. UFV also has a corporate volunteering initiative through which members of the educational community and UFV administration and services staff can offer their help in this cause.

PRAYER
As a Catholic institution, at UFV we believe that solidarity is expressed through material actions and gestures of faith and hope in community. We invite all those who wish to join our prayer initiatives for those affected by the DANA, because we can through a shared prayer, bring comfort and strength to those who are suffering.
ALUMNI, FAMILIES AND COMPANIES
If you are part of the Alumni, Families, the Senior Club, or represent an organization or institution that wants to collaborate through UFV, you can channel support through financial and material donations. We can also help you channel specialized volunteering and other proposals of institutional interest.
To ensure that all aids are managed as efficiently as possible, or if you would like to suggest new ways of collaboration, please contact: Ángela Barahona, of the UFV Social Action Department.
We are committed to continue offering ways of long-term support. We are aware that this type of disaster requires a continuous response and service at different times for the recovery of normality in families, populations and groups.
UFV’s commitment is to work in coordination with local institutions to ensure that actions have the greatest possible impact.
We send from here a message of solidarity to all those who have been affected, in one way or another, by this tragedy and all our gratitude to the people and institutions that work tirelessly to help and care for all those affected.
