INVESTIGACION 1 Research Estudiar en Universidad Privada Madrid

Within the framework of the Irene Vázquez Chair “Person-Centered Business”, lines of research are developed

focusing on three strategic focuses: methodologies for the transformation of the person, teams and organizations.

Transformation towards where? The answer is always the same: towards its fulfilment. We are convinced that it is impossible to transform without understanding the anthropological basis (and, therefore, the idea of wholeness) of what we intend to change.

Therefore, our first step is to complete the anthropological foundation of the person, teams and organizations as systems or human realities. Once the anthropological foundations have been investigated and clarified, we develop methodologies to transform, always from the respectful accompaniment and respecting the freedom of the person or the human system accompanied.

LINE OF RESEARCH PERSON

This line of research has already been concluded and two research teams of the Irene Vázquez Chair worked on it, which developed their work in 2015 and 2016 and deepened the anthropology of the Dialogic Coaching model and the development of deeper and more effective methodologies and practical tools.

Thanks to this research, new documents and publications on the anthropology of Dialogic Coaching were generated, the contents and methodologies of the Certification Program in Dialogic Coaching were revised and new training cycles for trainers for the Dialogic Coaching Model were designed.

RESEARCH AIMS

1 Incorporate an explanation of the transcendent dimension of the human being

2 Incorporate in this foundation the limitation and vulnerability inherent to human nature, “anthropological selfishness”

3 Incorporate the essential ideas of the above in the PCCD, with classroom dynamics that allow a first-person understanding of the concepts discussed

4 Achieve a better connection in the Certification Program in Dialogical Coaching of anthropological concepts and the practice of Coaching

5 Develop new dialogical coaching tools to complete the work of the coach in the following:

  • Acceptance of limitation and vulnerability
  • Understanding of the phenomenon of misunderstanding

RESEARCH CONTENT

TEAM 1: DEEPENING ANTHROPOLOGY OF DIALOGIC COACHING

The work of this team began in February 2015 with the research phase, which involved delving into the anthropological and theological dimension of the concepts indicated in the team’s aims. The work consisted of study, training, expert discussion and elaboration of documents with the conclusions obtained.

TEAM 2: DESIGN OF NEW DIALOGIC COACHING TOOLS FROM AN ANTHROPOLOGICAL DEEPENING OF THE MODEL AND REVISION OF THE FUNDAMENTAL CYCLE OF THE CERTIFICATION PROGRAM

Since October 2015, Research Team 2 has initiated the revision of the PCCD and is immersed in the design of new dialogic coaching tools, which will be incorporated into the various modules of the PCCD in the current year. This work also involves re-elaborating the Trainer’s Manuals and designing a training of trainers program for PCCD coaches/facilitators.

LIST OF RESEARCH PAPERS AND PRE-PUBLICATIONS

These documents are pre-publications that take on a more informative or academic form, depending on the case. Some of them, as they are written, have become part of the documentation for PCCD trainers and participants. They are the following:

  • Principios básicos del coaching dialógico (March 2016). Menchu de la Calle. A reformulation of the Basic Principles of Dialogic Coaching is collected, including new concepts and a more mature development of the previous ones.
  • Encantado de conocerte, soy vulnerable (March 2016).  Sonia González Iglesias. Develops the way in which we understand vulnerability in our model, as a reality proper to the human being that, insofar as recognized and accepted, is a source of personal growth.
  • La dimensión espiritual de la persona  Alvaro Abellán (April 2015). Explores and clarifies the various senses in which we usually speak of the spiritual and the spirit, to emphasize that this is a dimension present in all human activities, especially in the most liberating and relevant for our personal growth. That text served for the preparation of La espiritualidad en el coaching dialógico.
  • La espiritualidad en el modelo de coaching dialógico (March 2016).  Antonio Sastre. It offers a more mature and explicit formulation of the relationship between coaching and the life of the spirit.
  • Fenomenología del desencuentro (April 2016).  Antonio Sastre. The explanation of man as a “being of encounter” resonates strongly in contemporary man, but this discovery remains incomplete if we do not dare to look into the eyes of our experiences of disencounter. We dedicate this document to placing this reality before our eyes, with clarity and also with hope.
  • Itinerario acompañamiento crecimiento personal (March 2016).  Susana Alonso, Menchu de Lacalle and Sonia González Iglesias. This document functions as a map for the process of personal transformation and for the development of training and coaching methodologies

LINE OF RESEARCH TEAMS AND ORGANIZATIONS

This line of research works with two teams to develop a solid anthropological foundation of human and business systems and to create a practical methodology for transforming teams and organizations. One of the lines is still active today.

ANTHROPOLOGICAL FOUNDATION OF HUMAN SYSTEMS AND PERSON-CENTERED BUSINESS (TEAM 3)

The aim is to research in order to understand in depth the elements that must be present in human teams and organizations so that they contribute to personal and community fulfillment.

RESEARCH AIMS

1 Understand what human systems are and how they are linked to personal and community fulfillment. To understand the relationship between personal development and participation in human systems.

2 Distinguish types of human systems in relation to their purposes and their capacity to respond to the full realization of the person. Distinguish specifically between enterprise and community.

3 Understand the principles that govern the behavior of human systems and their relationship to systemic principles (systems theory).

4 Explain the factors that facilitate the development of the person in systems and of the systems themselves. To understand how to deploy the humanity and wholeness of human systems, and specifically of the company.

5 Define the anthropological principles that should guide a person-centered enterprise.

6 To transfer the concept of Encounter to the company. The encounter in the company and its requirements.

CONTENT OF THE RESEARCH:

FIRST PHASE OF RESEARCH (SEPTEMBER 2015-JUNE 2017): ANTHROPOLOGICAL GROUNDING OF HUMAN SYSTEMS AND PERSON-CENTERED ENTERPRISE

During a first phase of the research work, developed between the months of September 2015 and June 2017, the team worked on the following:

  • Questioning an inadequate application of the General Systems Theory as a starting paradigm to understand some key aspects of the company.
  • Distinguishing clearly the logic that governs human relationships and the development of the person in fullness and the logic that governs the mercantile and transferring to the company the logic of the encounter.
  • To define the role played by the community in personal fulfillment.
  • To understand the phenomenon of the social, defining its structure.
  • To establish the philosophical bases of a person-centered company.
  • To develop a first decalogue of the anthropological principles of the person-centered company.
  • To investigate and establish the anthropological bases of personal and organizational change

SECOND PHASE OF RESEARCH (SEPTEMBER 2017-JUNE 2019): APPLICATION OF ANTHROPOLOGICAL PRINCIPLES TO THE REALITY OF THE COMPANY AND CONCRETIZATION OF ATTRIBUTES AND POLICIES OF A PERSON-CENTERED COMPANY.

This second phase of the research began in September 2017 and is still active, and its content is:

  • Application of the anthropological principles worked on to the reality of the company, redefining each of the fundamental categories that have to do with people from the new logic: culture, leadership, people policies.
  • From the above, definition of basic attributes of the Person-Centered Company.
  • Concretization of the most important business practices to bring it to the reality of the company’s day-to-day

LIST OF RESEARCH PAPERS AND PRE-PUBLICATIONS

As pre-publications, the team developed the following articles. Most of them will soon become publications:

  • La persona en el sistema. La comunidad. José Angel Agejas and Angel Barahona. April 2016.
  • ¿A qué llamamos sistemas humanos? TGS y Antropología Dialógica. Alvaro Abellán. December 2016.
  • Fundamentos filosóficos para una empresa dialógica. Alvaro Abellán. June 2017.
  • Decálogo de la empresa centrada en la persona (research team). June 2017

The Chair has published the following publications:

  • Una mirada a la empresa desde la lógica del encuentro. Sonia González Iglesias and Antonio Sastre. Relectiones nº3, 2016.
  • Claves antropológicas del cambio en las organizaciones. Antonio Sastre. Cuadernos 132. January 2018.
  • Fundamentos filosóficos para una empresa dialógica. Álvaro Abellán-García Barrio. Cuadernos 134. January 2019

DEVELOPMENT OF A DIALOGIC MODEL OF ORGANIZATIONAL TRANSFORMATION (TEAM 4)

The Chair’s research activity in this area is being carried out by a multidisciplinary team of experts, made up of consultants with extensive management experience in companies, philosophers and academic researchers.

RESEARCH AIMS

The ultimate goal of this team is the development of a practical Methodology for the transformation of People, Teams and Organizations centered on the Person to develop People-centered Companies.

We intend to become a reference center in the field of Person-Centered Business and Organizational Change and to be able to share with companies and institutions a model that combines the development of the fullness of people with the results of the companies.

In the same way, the methodology and tools developed within this research team are already the core of the Consultancy Service of accompaniment to the processes of Organizational Transformation offered by IDDI (Management Development Institute) through a team of expert consultants, who in turn have been and are part of the research teams.

The dialogic model developed by the Irene Vázquez Chair “Person-Centered Enterprise” aims to provide an effective response to the main challenges associated with the speed and depth of the transformation processes that organizations are currently facing.

CONTENT OF THE RESEARCH:

The content blocks that have been worked on to complete this model are the following:

  • Description of the Model and its DNA (differential elements), as well as its basic principles.
  • The Consultant’s Relationship with the client system.
  • The change team.
  • Itinerary of the transformation process.
  • Practical methodologies and tools for the management of the human and organizational aspects of change and the support of companies that have to face it

The development of our own Model to support organizational transformation has been based on the following premises:

  • AN ANTHROPOLOGICAL FOUNDATION is essential for the success of change processes: understanding the keys that mobilize and engage people.
  • The essence of genuinely human growth and transformation is RELATIONAL and MEANINGFUL.
  • Organizational transformation is only possible by addressing 3 levels of change: PERSON, TEAM, ORGANIZATION.
  • The development of people and the good of the whole is built in relationship and requires ENCOUNTER: activation of values that lead to PERSONAL FULFILLMENT and open people to go beyond their own interests

In December 2018 the Dialogic Model was finalized, and fully entered the phase of its empirical validation, through different consulting projects that are being developed with companies in our country. During 2019 this is the focus of the research.
