Experimental Knowledge Innovation Center
ABOUT US
The Center for Experimental Innovation of Knowledge (CEIEC, in Spanish) of the Francisco de Vitoria University is an institute created with the aim of generating R+D+i projects in the area of ICT that contribute to the inclusion of all citizens in the benefits of the information society. CEIEC seeks to reduce the digital divide through inclusion programs and digital services that make the use of new technologies useful, accessible and attractive to the whole society.
AIM: “E-INCLUSION”
The CEIEC has three lines of action so that immigrants, people with disabilities, the elderly and any other “e-excluded” social group can have access to ICTs.
These lines are:
- e-Inclusion for digital services and ICT training and education programs
- Accessible information and communication systems: e-Accessibility to the information society by facilitating access to technologies and services through “design for all”
- Independent living and accessibility through assistive technologies that improve the quality of life and self-sufficiency in the development of daily tasks through the use of information systems
CONSTITUTION
The CEIEC was created as an initiative of researchers from the School of Computer Engineering of the UFV, led by Dr. Álvaro José García Tejedor, and with the support of the Plan Avanza of the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade. Since its constitution, it has an interdepartmental vocation and, therefore, researchers from other faculties such as Biotechnology, Business, Humanities, Law and Communication Sciences, among others, also collaborate in it.
COLLABORATIONS
CEIEC is interested in creating links with companies, institutions and public organizations that share the idea that ICT isnot only the new engine of development and progress, but also a mechanism for action and improvement of society. In this sense, it places special emphasis on projects open to other members of the European Union and Latin American countries.
