EXPANDED REASON INSTITUTE
EXPANDED REASON COMMUNITIES
The Expanded Reason Communities are made up of professors – from inside and outside the UFV – who seek to renew their academic disciplines and their teaching following the proposal of Benedict XVI. This renewal is approached by seeking the unity of knowledge from the expanded reason. To this end, the person is placed at the center (both as the object of study of each science and in reference to the students who receive the teaching). Such positioning leads us to pose, in each discipline, questions about man, about truth, about good and evil, and about the meaning of things. The result is the generation of a new way of approaching university disciplines and their teaching.
We believe that such an aim can hardly be achieved alone. That is why as many communities have been formed as there are degrees in the university. These communities are made up of professors of particular sciences and humanists, and all of them work together in the approach to the fundamental questions, so that no subject taught at the UFV forgets or ignores what is truly human.
In the communities of expanded reason, professors from other universities who share the same concern for renewing their science and their teaching from the perspective of expanded reason are welcome.
In order to register for the Expanded Reason Communities through the Canvas platform, you must be a UFV professor and have the Canvas platform open before clicking on the button.
