You will learn to solve crimes with on-campus simulations
From day one, you will work with the criminologist’s case, analyzing crime scenes and practicing in Gesell camera rooms, where you will be confronted with life-like situations. In addition, you will study in the criminology laboratory and you will always have access to the most cutting-edge facilities of one of the best university campuses in Europe.

Your classes will combine theory with practical experimentation in the criminology lab or in the anatomical-forensic classroom, where you will analyze crime scenes, make facial composites of criminals and learn about ballistics and fingerprinting.
You will complete internships in companies, criminal law firms and organizations such as the Secretary of State for Security, the Civil Guard, BOTECH, the Canary Islands Institute of Criminological Analysis, etc.
Your professors will be active professionals with extensive knowledge of the latest trends in the area, and you will attend seminars and conferences with experts in jihadist terrorism, drug trafficking, missing persons, cybersecurity, etc.
You will study private and forensic investigation techniques and you will obtain a Diploma in Private Detective. In addition, you will enjoy a large campus with its own rooms for your career, as well as a 8,800 m2 sports center, cafeterias, computer labs, food trucks, etc.
You will learn in the field with visits to police headquarters, penitentiaries, juvenile institutions and victim care centers where you will be able to apply your knowledge to real situations.

You will complete the university degree along with a qualification in Private Detective
At UFV, you will study both criminalistics (scientific study of the crime scene) and criminology (study of antisocial behavior) and, at the same time, you will obtain an enabling diploma in Private Detective that will certify you professionally to work in this field of private security which has a high demand for employment. In addition, you will be able to join by direct access to the Scale of Officers of the Civil Guard.
Internships in companies
You will carry out your professional internship in companies, criminal law firms and organizations such as the Secretary of State for Security, the Civil Guard, BOTECH, the Canary Islands Institute of Criminological Analysis, among others. This internship will allow you to analyze real cases within an organization and participate in some of their studies. In addition, 85% of our students receive a job offer before finishing their internship.
International Agreements
We have exchange agreements so that you can study at a university in America, Europe or Asia, an experience that will allow you to learn about criminology investigation techniques in another country. In addition, you will live on campus with students of different nationalities and have access to the UFV Language Center.

Career Opportunities
Some of the career opportunities for this university degree are:
- Private Detective (Private Detective qualification required): conducts private investigations commissioned by individuals or legal entities, either through his or her own or another detective firm.
- Parliamentary Advisor: advises parliamentary groups in Congress and the Senate on criminal policy issues.
- Expert: issues reports and ratifies them in court at the request of the parties to the proceedings on a concrete and specific expertise.
- Mediator (Mediator qualification required): facilitates reconciliation processes between victims and perpetrators within the framework of restorative justice.
- Head of Security (Head of Security qualification required): manages all areas of security in private companies, individuals or privately managed public spaces.
- Victim Care Office: assesses the risk and the need to accompany the victim in their de-victimization process at different levels.
- Risk Analyst: analyzes, from the companies’ SOCS (Security Operation Centers), the possible attacks that a company may face to prevent fraud, cyber-attacks, data theft, etc.
- Advisor in Insurance Companies: advises companies on insurance policies and manages relations between customers and insurers.
- Data Protection Officer (accreditation required): large-scale processing of special categories of personal data and data relating to criminal convictions and offenses, among others.
- Processor, agent and procedural manager (public examination required): civil servant working for the various judicial bodies in the criminal field.
- Security civil servant in penitentiaries (public examination required).
- Law enforcement (public examination required): criminology graduates may take the public examination for the basic scale and the executive scale, both in the national police or local police, as well as in the Civil Guard (direct access to the Scale of Officers).
- Trainer of Law Enforcement and Educational Centers in different matters related to prevention, intervention, new investigation techniques, victimization, etc
