Erasmus+ is the EU’s program to support education, training, youth and sport in Europe. Its budget of €14.7 billion provides study, experience acquisition and volunteering opportunities to more than 4 million Europeans.

The Erasmus program, which currently runs until 2027, is not only aimed at students. It has merged seven previous programs and offers opportunities to a wide range of individuals and organizations.

The Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) provides a general quality framework for European and international collaborative activities that any higher education institution may carry out under the Erasmus Program. Higher education institutions located in one of the Program countries must have a Erasmus Charter for Higher Education in order to apply for and participate in personal learning mobility and/or collaboration on innovation and good practice under the Program. The Erasmus Charter is granted for the entire duration of the Erasmus Program (2021-2027).

Obtaining the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education for the period 2021-2027 is not only a requirement to be able to participate in all the actions promoted by Erasmus, but also represents a “seal of excellence” that will allow UFV to maintain an active presence in strategic projects and prestigious international networks, which will contribute to the improvement of the quality of its activities and its academic prestige. By signing the Charter 2021-2027, UFV confirms that its participation in the Erasmus Program is part of its own modernization and internationalization strategy and recognizes the important contribution of student and staff mobility to the quality of higher education programs.

The new Erasmus Program 2021-2027, whose budget has been increased by 60% compared to the 2014-2020 period, reaching 25 billion euros, will open up numerous cooperation opportunities for higher education institutions.
