- Universidad Francisco de Vitoria receives the ILA 2023 Listener of the Year Award from the International Listening Association for its Active Listening Center
The work of the Active Listening Center of the Universidad Francisco de Vitoria (UFV) has been awarded the ILA 2023 Listener of the Year Award. This distinction was unveiled during the 44th annual convention of the ILA, held in Mainz, Germany, and represents global recognition of UFV’s outstanding efforts in the field of active listening.
- 3rd International Listening Meeting
On December 14, 2022, the Active Listening Center organized the third edition of its International Listening Meeting, under the title “The transformative meaning of listening in the canvases of future horizons: How can listening help you face new challenges?”
- INTERNATIONAL DAY OF LISTENING 2022: LISTEN TO HEAL
On Thursday, September 15, the International Listening Association (ILA) celebrates the International Day of Listening. A space to learn about listening from researchers and practitioners from around the world. - SILENCE AND LISTENING TO ONESELF WITH JANE ADSHEAD-GRANT
We share a podcast in which Jane Adshead-Grant talks about the challenge of listening to ourselves. Jane points out that “to be a great listener, we first have to know what it feels like to be heard, really heard, free of interruptions, judgments and distractions.” Find out more here.
- KEY IDEAS TO PROMOTE ACTIVE LISTENING AND CAPTURE YOUR CHILDREN’S ATTENTION
On November 2, 2021, El Confidencial published an article explaining some key methods to practice empathic listening to our children. Day to day life with our children involves putting listening into practice, and doing it actively can help to strengthen bonds and generate a deeper climate of trust. More information here.
- 43RD LISTENING CONFERENCE
On June 3 and 4 of this year, the International Listening Association (ILA) will organize the 43rd edition of its Listening Convention. It will again be held virtually due to current circumstances. This year, the theme will revolve around listening in times of change, and will bring together practitioners and researchers from around the world to share their experiences with listening. - ARTICLE PUBLISHED IN THE MAGAZINE S-MODA (EL PAÍS)
The Center for Active Listening (Learnability) collaborated in on the article published in the magazine S-Moda (El País), “Cuando hablar nos gusta más que escuchar: cómo practicar la escucha activa” (When we like talking more than listening: how to practice active listening). Consuelo Valbuena, director of CEA, analyzes the impact of listening on the human being, and reflects on the importance of listening in various fields (education, business and everyday life), emphasizing the excess of noise and the need to make space to listen to ourselves, starting with ourselves. - TRANSFORMATIONAL LISTENING PILOT QUESTIONNAIRE
On Tuesday, May 25, the Active Listening Center launched its Transformational Listening Pilot Questionnaire to the Vice Rectorate for Quality and Organizational Transformation Community. A tool to get to know ourselves better in relation to listening, providing a feedback and feedforward report on how we listen.
- ACTIVE LISTENING CENTER (LEARNABILITY) GYMKHANA CONTEST: A GIFT ON ITS THIRD ANNIVERSARY
As you know, the Active Listening Center is celebrating its third anniversary ! As we had announced, to thank you for your support and the road we have traveled together, we are launching our Contest in Gymkhana format through Instagram. We hope you enjoy it!
Contest rules:
The aim of the contest is that you pass a succession of tests and accumulate as many points as possible. Please read them carefully!
- Who is the contest aimed at?
- Students enrolled in the 2020/2021 academic year at the UFV in Higher Level Training Cycles, Bachelor’s Degrees, University Master’s Degrees or Doctorates.
- The university’s working staff belonging to the professional categories of Administration and Services Staff and Teaching Staff (except jury members).
- Dates of publication of the tests: April 20 and 27; May 4.
- Channel of the communication: Instagram Stories.
- Participation format. Instagram account @ufvmadrid will publish a Story each of the dates indicated. This Story will have an image related to Listening as a transforming element of the human being, and a famous phrase also related to listening.
By clicking on each Story, you will be taken to a web page where you will have to complete a test (answer a question, solve a riddle, etc.). If you are the first to answer correctly, you will receive 100 points; if you are the second to answer correctly, 99 points; and so on until the 101st participant to answer correctly receives 0 points. The rest of the participants will also receive 0 points. The idea of the contest is to accumulate, in the three tests, as many points as possible.
- The 10 people who have correctly completed the three tests and have the most points will receive a CEA prize, consisting of three UFV products closely related to listening.
- Where can I pick up the prizes? When you are informed that you are one of the winners, you can pick up your prizes in the Attic of module 5 (the table in front of office 2).

- 42ND CONFERENCE OF THE INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF LISTENING
From Thursday, March 18 to Saturday, March 20, in addition to other dates (April 10, 17 and 24, May 1, 8, 15 and 22 and June 5), the International Listening Association (ILA) will once again organize its Listening Convention, virtually due to the current circumstances. In this event, professionals from different countries around the world will talk about their knowledge and experiences in relation to the listening as a fundamental element of people, organizations and society, even more so now with the current situation. Don’t miss this opportunity to deepen the process of listening as a key to learning and transformation!

- ENLIGHTED 2019 REINVENTING EDUCATION IN A DIGITAL WORLD
In early October, the second edition of EnlightED was held in Madrid, a global conference that brings together leading world experts in education, technology and innovation to promote a great debate on Education in the digital age. - 4TH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ORGANIZATIONAL CHANGE MANAGEMENT
Last November 27, 2018, our director Consuelo Valbuena participated in the 4th International Conference of Organizational Change held in Madrid. - NATIONAL MEETING OF BALINT GROUPS
Last October 26, 2018 we flew to Porto to participate in the National Meeting of Balint Groups, organized by the Portuguese Association of Balint Groups. The meeting brought together different health professionals (family doctors, psychologists, nurses) to experience the methodology of Balint groups. This educational and experiential activity allows to reflect, based on cases experienced by professionals, on the professional-patient relationship.
