INSTITUTE OF ECONOMIC
AND SOCIAL RESEARCH
ABOUT US
NATURE AND PURPOSE OF THE IESR
The Institute of Economic and Social Research (IESR) of the Francisco de Vitoria University (UFV) is a scientific corporation established in June 2000. It brings together researchers from a range of backgrounds, specialties, and age groups.
The primary goal of the Institute is to advance theoretical understanding in the human sciences and to apply this knowledge to the study and treatment of social reality. In order to achieve this goal, the IESR encourages research that focuses on the study of human beings in their personal, family, moral, and religious contexts. While the IESR is officially dedicated to the Economic and Social Sciences, its scope is actually much broader, encompassing all fields of the human sciences.
I believe the paragraph is unnecessary. It has already been stated that the company was founded in 2000 in the preceding paragraph, and the information it provides is not particularly valuable.
IESR ACTIVITIES
The main activities of the Institute of Economic and Social Research (IESR) are:
- Research and training of researchers and professors
- Contribution to the publication of research results
- Organization and participation in Conferences, Seminars, Congresses, etc.
- Imparting, by an authority, of the Conference (annual) “Francisco de Vitoria“.
The research activities focus on economic science, including theory, methodology, econometrics, and global economics. Additionally, the scope encompasses family studies, anthropology, education, psychology, history, and other related fields such as mathematics, computation, demography, and the social doctrine of the Church.
The results of research conducted by the IESR or its members, as well as the findings from the “Francisco de Vitoria” Conferences, Congresses, and other events, have beenpublished in various media outlets to disseminate the knowledge gained over the years. The research process is structured as follows:
- – Individual activity or in small unregulated groups
- – Research projects in which several people participate, generally including researchers in training
For its part, the training of researchers and teachers is carried out in this way:
- – Direct personal activity (thesis direction, personalized training plans, personalized post-doctoral advice, etc.),
- – Meetings with groups of professors for the preparation of subjects and the teaching of training courses
. In addition, seminars and training coursesare organized and carried out by the IESR. Some of the most important courses are those of the Cycle of Anthropological Training for Professors and Researchers, directed by the IESR Anthropological Group, which covers topics such as human biology, psychology, anthropology, history of religions, etc.
Additionally, seminars are held in conjunction with ongoing research initiatives. One notable example is the Permanent Seminar on Market Economy, Capitalism and Society, which spanned five years and offered insights into various societal models.
