EXPANDED REASON INSTITUTE
EXPANDED REASON CONFERENCE
The Expanded Reason Conference is held every two years and aims to be a forum for researchers and teachers from all over the world who, from their branches of science, ask themselves about the reality that challenges them, taking into account anthropology, epistemology, ethics and the meaning that underlies what they study.
It arises from the same mission as the Expanded Reason Awards, following the proposal of Benedict XVI, to put the different branches of science in dialogue with philosophy and theology, with the aim of knowing reality in all its breadth.
Both the Conference and the Awards insist on this way of using reason, aware that the beauty of the study of the branches of sciences at the University lies in man’s desire to understand himself and the reality that surrounds him; a desire that uncovers an even greater one: to understand what is the truest way to live.
