Visit to the Prado Museum – Easter time through art
Do you want to know the origin of the Christian Easter and its representation throughout history? Don’t miss our next activity on Saturday, April 13 at the Prado Museum. On this occasion, we will take a unique tour that will lead us to explore the origin of Easter time through the contemplation of the colors of each era and the evolution of pictorial themes throughout history

Christmas at the Prado
Come and discover the mystery of Christmas through the contemplation of the works of art kept at the Prado National Museum. In this visit we will make a special tour through the most emblematic works of: Fra Angelico, Murillo, Rubens, El Greco and Velazquez.

Next Saturday, November 25th, we are going to Valladolid. We will visit the splendid city on foot, make a guided visit to the National Sculpture Museum and much more.

Concert Talen’t
Talen’t is a rock band that was born as a group of friends in the music society of the UFV. They share a taste for music but, above all, a clear idea: rock is a tool to unite people and start a revolution in the customs of society.
It is made up of Maravillas Catalán (Pharmacy), David Luna (Videogames), Irene Poves (Biomedical Engineering), Francisca Ortolá (Psychology), Oscar Ten (Architecture) and Alfonso Tena (Biotechnology). Jaime Fernández (Journalism + Audiovisual Communication) will also participate.
The concert will be on October 25 at 12 noon at U-Shop.

15 December
Get ready for the Year of Picasso 2023 with a conference around the artist hosted by Professor Pablo López Raso, at the invitation of Padres UFV. It will be held on 15 December at 7.30pm in the Sala de Grados. What’s more, on 16 December, the Fundación Mapfre exhibition “Julio González, Pablo Picasso y la desmaterialización de la escultura” (Julio González, Pablo Picasso and the Dematerialization of Sculpture) opens at 1.30pm. Admission is 3 euros and the exhibition is recognized for up to 0.25 ECTS.

We kick off our book club with this masterpiece of dystopian literature by Aldous Huxley. “Brave New World” presents a hypothetical future scenario in which every vestige of the past has been eradicated with the purpose of sealing a new era of humanity, totally devoid of historical content and meaning.

The Universidad Francisco de Vitoria hosts the eighth edition of the Book Week, organized by the departments of Cultural Activities; Library; Editorial UFV;
the Faculty of Communication and the U-Shop. The relationship between the arts and literature, and between painters and writers, of reciprocal influence and mutual inspiration, has been very fruitful throughout history. Therefore, in the year in which Spain commemorates both the fiftieth anniversary of Pablo Picasso’s death and the centenary of Joaquín Sorolla’s, the Week will focus on
around the slogan: “Eyes that paint, hands that read”.

Universifest: the festival of university bands
On Tuesdays in February and March we have a musical event: the Sala Clamores in Madrid will host the first festival of university bands. This is a joint initiative byour University; the University CEU San Pablo, Pontificia de Comillas, Alfonso X El Sabio and Europea of Madrid. The Answer, our music group made up of students, will perform on February 21 and Peláez ¬ The Hounds of Hell, the faculty band made up of José María Peláez, Guillermo Arce and Charles Jones, will perform on March 14. META ART: METAVERSE, CRYPTO WORLD AND NFTs.

Miguel Ángel Naddaf Borrás and Ángel Haro, from Universelle, visit UFV to talk about the subject that’s changing the art world: NFTs, the world of crypto and the metaverse. We’ll begin with a historical introduction on crypto art. They’ll give us the practical details, what an NFT is and how it’s created, from both an artistic and a collector’s perspective. We’ll finish with an overview of the new emerging professions related to the world of crypto: programing, art, finance, creation, consulting. Don’t miss it!
Book Club in the Julio Cortázar Library (Juan March Foundation)
24 January.
We’ll be reading “Casa tomada” (House Taken Over). A copy of the first edition, illustrated by Juan Fresán, is kept on display in the library. In late 1992, Aurora Bernárdez donated the personal library of Argentine writer Julio Cortázar (1914-1984) to the Fundación Juan March in Madrid. The 4,000 books he kept at his home on Martel en París, where he died on 12 February 1984, are kept in a beautiful space lovingly maintained by librarian, Celia Martínez.
