Since its inception, the Faculty of Health Sciences has been firmly committed to research and collaborative work across the four degree programs, with continuous improvement as its core objective. The Faculty of Health Sciences views the student as the primary protagonist in their academic career. Our objective is to provide comprehensive training to meet their needs.

The objective of the four-degree union is to establish an optimal learning environment for students and faculty alike, facilitating comprehensive development. At the Universidad Francisco de Vitoria, we recognize the importance of health, physical activity, nutrition, and sports as fundamental pillars for comprehensive personal development. To this end, we have sought to provide our facilities with the highest possible standards of excellence. We are pleased to announce the opening of our Sports Center, Physiotherapy Clinic, and Exercise Physiology, Biomechanics, and Functional Readaptation laboratories. These facilities will provide students with the best resources to complete their academic and personal training.

UFV has been honored with a gold medal by the ACSM within the "Exercise is Medicine - On Campus (EIM-OC)" program.

UFV has been honored with the highest recognition from the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) for its exemplary efforts in promoting physical activity and exercise on campus throughout the past year. UNIVERSITY LIFE

COMPLEMENTARY TRAINING ACTIVITIES

 University Championships Of Spain

On October 12th and 13th, the Universidad Francisco de Vitoria will host its annual University Championships. A number of universities visit our sports center to compete. Our physiotherapy degree students provided support to players who had sustained injuries, experienced overloads, or required pre-competition massages.

 Physiotherapy Solidarity Campaigns (1.0, 2.0 and 3.0)

The course comprises three solidarity campaigns. In these campaigns, teachers and students convene at a central location in Madrid, where they distribute food and beverages to homeless individuals. The food is merely a pretext for fostering closer relationships and providing the most valuable resource: companionship and attention.

Rock & Roll Running Series Madrid

Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Physiotherapy degree program have the distinct privilege of participating in this race, offering their physiotherapy services. The selected students had received prior training and found the experience of approaching the world of sport in such a recognized race both enjoyable and beneficial. During this exceptional experience, A number of students worked in collaboration with the Madrid ambulance service to provide support to runners during and after the race.

 Orthotics and Orthopedics Workshop

Orthotics and Orthopedics Workshop. The workshop provided students with a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter, equipping them with the skills and expertise to become highly proficient professionals. This training, along with the other degree-related competencies they have acquired, will contribute to their professional development.

Additional training activities are provided as follows:

I Conference on Physical Activity and Sports Sciences
Techo Sport at the Sports Hall
Symposium Fatigue and Performance: An Integrated Vision
Trail Running: Performance Factors and Training Methodology

RESEARCH

The priority lines of research of the Faculty of Health Sciences are encompassed within a framework of interdisciplinarity of the degrees that compose it, seeking an integrated vision of all perspectives. With this desire as inspiration, the main themes are:

  • Dose-response in ergogenic aids and doping: metabolism and performance
  • Genetics and performance
  • Load control for performance and risk of injury
  • Exercise for health (special populations, healthy universities, etc)
  • Acquisition and evaluation of competences

The Agile XR project, which explores the potential of augmented agile teamwork for distance and blended learning in schools, has received support and funding from the Erasmus+ KA220-SCH programme of the European Union. The project is coordinated by the RHIZO network of educational centers in Belgium and the Universidad Francisco de Vitoria (UFV), with Professor Juan Fraile as the coordinating lead. It has resulted in a series of online resources offering innovative strategies for secondary school educators across Europe, with a focus on education in the digital age, including distance learning, agile practices, and web and extended reality (XR) technologies.

What has the AgileXR project yielded?
The results of the project include:

– Practical guides on how to establish engaging and collaborative learning experiences for online, distance, hybrid and blended learning modalities.

– Insights into the use and potential of extended reality technologies in education.

– Practical tools for educators to integrate agile practices and XR/web technologies into their teaching methods

Furthermore, this site contains all the results generated by the project: https://results.agilexr.eu/

Who benefits from these resources?
Our resources have been developed with the specific needs of European secondary school educators in mind, and are suitable for use in a variety of learning environments. These resources are ideal for teachers, instructional designers, school administrators, and educational technology specialists seeking to enhance student engagement and the learning experience.

Navigating the Resources:
Our digital resources are organized into four main sections, corresponding to our project deliverables. The eBook includes 11 resources covering guides, reports, videos, blog posts and guided tutorials on how to leverage digital tools. These resources are tailored to different learning environments and offer a combination of technological support and pedagogical strategies.

Project Outcome #1: This course will equip you with strategies to enhance student teamwork in hybrid and remote environments. It will combine agile teaching methods with web technologies.

Project Outcome #2: This study examines the potential of XR technology for use in school education. The findings are presented in a series of guides on the use of virtual reality tools for teamwork and learning in online and blended classrooms. The guides also include instructions for configuring the Oculus Quest 2.

Project Outcome #3: The templates and workshop guides facilitate the design of blended learning courses, providing tools for reflection and improvement of lessons to suit different learning modalities.

Outcome of Project #4: This training guide on distance learning methodologies, manual on educational technology tools, and application for tool selection are designed to provide comprehensive guidance on the effective use of digital resources in education.

The Agile4Collaboration project – Self-Directed Agile Education for Resilient and Inclusive Collaboration is a European project funded by the Erasmus+ KA220-SCH Program of the European Union that aims to contribute, in a collaborative and agile way, to the development of agile learning in Europe as a learning method. This is closer to people’s natural way of learning and is highly beneficial for students who learn in an interactive, collaborative and self-directed way.

Since agile methodologies have not been sufficiently explored and adapted to the European context and educational priorities, the Agile4Collaboration project was created to explore the application of these contexts in Europe.
