ENGLISH COURSES

This is an opportunity for administrative and services staff (PAS) or teaching staff at the Universidad Francisco de Vitoria to enhance their English language skills or obtain an official Cambridge University qualification (FCE and CAE).

At the UFV Language Center, we offer a range of courses aligned with the guidelines set forth by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Our courses are taught in small groups, with a focus on meeting your individual needs. Our dynamic, communicative, and highly practical methodology ensures an engaging and effective learning experience.

To determine the most appropriate course of action, new students are required to complete a level test.

COURSE LEVEL A1 PAS: 

The A1 level provides an introduction to the English language, introducing students to fundamental structures and vocabulary. This enables them to express and understand simple ideas, including how to introduce themselves and others, and to request and provide basic personal information. The individual will be able to interact with a partner who speaks slowly and clearly and is willing to cooperate (CEFR). It is estimated that 80 to 100 hours of classroom training will be required to reach this level.

  • Duration: from October to January and from February to June.
  • Number of hours: 60 hours of classroom training.
  • Number of students: small groups, minimum 7 and maximum 14.
  • Timetable: from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm or from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Two days a week depending on the level.
A2 LEVEL COURSE PAS: 

The objective of the A2 level is to enhance the student’s fundamental communication abilities, both verbal and written. The objective at the conclusion of this level is for the student to demonstrate proficiency in understanding sentences related to everyday experiences (family, shopping, places of interest, occupations, etc.) and also to be able to maintain simple exchanges on common topics (CEFR). It is estimated that 120 to 180 hours of classroom training are required to reach this level.

  • Duration: from October to January and from February to June.
  • Number of hours: 60 hours of classroom training.
  • Number of students: small groups, minimum 7 and maximum 14.
  • Timetable: from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm or from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Two days a week depending on the level.
COURSE LEVEL B1 PAS: 

The objective of the B1 level is to enhance the student’s proficiency in oral and written communication. Upon completion of this level, the student will be able to comprehend and convey main ideas in standard language on familiar matters related to work, study, and leisure. Additionally, they will be able to describe experiences, events, aspirations, and reasons for opinions and plans. (CEFR) It is estimated that 120 to 180 hours of classroom training are required to reach this level.

  • Duration: from October to January and from February to June.
  • Number of hours: 60 hours of classroom training.
  • Number of students: small groups, minimum 7 and maximum 14.
  • Timetable: from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm or from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Two days a week depending on the level.
COURSE LEVEL B2 PAS :

The objective of the B2 level is to enhance the student’s proficiency in oral and written communication. The objective at the conclusion of this level is for the student to demonstrate the ability to comprehend complex texts on a diverse range of concrete and abstract subjects within their area of expertise. They will be able to use language fluently and naturally, producing texts on a variety of topics and defending their point of view. It is estimated that 120 to 200 hours of classroom training will be required to reach this level.

This level is an essential component for integration into the global workforce, as it equips students with the skills to navigate professional settings with limited complexity.

  • Duration: from October to January and from February to June.
  • No. of hours: 60h classroom hours.
  • Number of students: small groups, minimum 7 and maximum 14.
  • Timetable: from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm or from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Two days a week depending on the level.
COURSE LEVEL C1 PAS : 

The objective of the C1 level is to enhance the student’s proficiency in oral and written communication. The objective at the conclusion of this level is for the student to demonstrate the ability to comprehend a diverse range of sophisticated and specialized texts within their field of expertise, exhibiting a certain level of proficiency. They will be able to express themselves fluently and spontaneously, making flexible and effective use of the language for social, academic, and professional purposes with some difficulty. It is estimated that 120 to 200 hours of classroom training will be required to reach this level.

This level is a crucial stepping stone when looking to enter the global workforce. It equips them with the skills and confidence to navigate professional settings with ease.

  • Number of hours: 60 hours of classroom training.
  • Number of students: small groups, minimum 7 and maximum 14.
  • Timetable: from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm or from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Two days a week depending on the level.
FIRST CERTIFICATE PAS PREPARATION COURSE: 

The First Certificate in English course provides students with the skills and knowledge required to successfully complete the Cambridge certification exam, which is equivalent to a B2 level (CEFR). The center is officially designated as a Cambridge Preparatory Center, which ensures effective preparation for all five exam skills. The course covers the following five skills: reading, use of English, writing, listening, and speaking.

  • Duration: from October to January and from February to June.
  • Number of hours: 60 hours.
  • Number of students: small groups, minimum 7 and maximum 14.
  • Timetable: from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm or from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Two days a week depending on the level.
CAMBRIDGE ADVANCED ENGLISH COURSE PAS : 

The Cambridge Advanced English course is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge required to successfully complete the Cambridge certification exam, which is equivalent to a C1 level (CEFR). The center is officially accredited by Cambridge Preparatory Center, which ensures effective preparation for all five exam skills. The course covers the following skills: reading, use of English, writing, listening, and speaking.

  • Duration: from October to January and from February to June.
  • Number of hours: 60 hours.
  • Number of students: small groups, minimum 7 and maximum 14.
  • Timetable: from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm or from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Two days a week depending on the level.
