SUPPORT
THE EXPERIENCE OF WALKING TOGETHER MAKES THIS STAGE OF THE JOURNEY AN EXCITING ONE
Sharing this journey in good company can make your experience unique, transformative experience possible.
Here at UFV, we want you to feel like you’re not alone in the university community of professors, mentors, colleagues and professionals. With our support, you’ll find find your own personal way of relating to everyone and you’ll have everything you need to develop as a person and discover who are, what you want and your personal and professional mission.
Every member of administrative and service staff (PAS) works to make life and work easier for the rest of the university community. These staff are also the protagonists of the UFV student experience. There is a community atmosphere between our staff and also those who work in services outsourced to other companies (hospitality, printing and sports activities) who, with a friendly and professional approach, collaborate in the educational work of the UFV.
Every student is important to us because he or she is unique. We support our students with professional, friendly service through our institutional habits, our values and pedagogical model. We know that support is vital to each and every person and that’s why it is part of our approach; it’s in our DNA. It’s present in many ways to fill your time at the university with meaning, value and growth.
We consider each course, subject and activity a real opportunity for growth and learning, supporting you to help you reach your best version.
WHAT WILL YOU FIND?
Mentoring from first year
You have just entered the university and we offer you a real experience so that you can be who you are called to be from the very first day. Through our Personal Skills course you will develop the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values to develop a person and as the future professional you want to be.
Personalized support
Each person is unique and deserves to be welcomed and empowered in their uniqueness, with all their skills, difficulties and circumstances in the present moment. That’s why the entire university community and the opportunities it offers are designed to help you in whatever you need and to accompany you on your growth journey.
Social responsibility
What you do has an impact on you and others. Understanding this is essential to becoming an excellent professional and a better person. At UFV we integrate this responsibility as part of your learning through classes and social practices because with this perspective you will be able to transform the world as the professional you are called to be.
Integral training
The person is a complex and rich reality, with different dimensions and faculties intertwined, while at the same time remaining radically one. Each person is a “whole”, irreducible to the sum of its various parts. Hence, education, as a process through which the person is helped to reach his or her maximum development, can only be understood as “integral training”. Education is the itinerary through which the potentialities of each person unfold. It is a path in which the learner cannot be substituted; only he or she, from his or her own free will, is called to embark on the journey; only he or she, but he or she is not alone. The mission of the educator is to support the student on this journey, proposing experiences and activities that are aimed at the person as a whole, and remaining at their side to help them integrate experiences and make the decisions to help oneself grow as a whole.
That’s why, at UFV you will find a wide variety of experiences available to you (School of Leadership, Educational Guidance Office, University Extension, etc. and the dozens of student societies, activities, volunteering programs and competitions organized every day) throughout your time with us. It is impossible to separate them form the academic experience because the mission of UFV is to train you to transform you and support you on this journey!
International support
Arriving in a new country alone can be daunting and bring with it a lot of uncertainty. That’s why we have the Buddy Program, through which we support both incoming and outgoing students so that they can easily adapt and integrate into their new destination. We also offer UFV Planet, which offers other plans and regular meetings with a mentor and academic intercultural training.
Support Institute and Research Groups
We formally recognize support because it is part of our identity. We have a program to help others (Uno más Uno), a master’s degree in Educational Support, a Support Institute <![CDATA[and research groups that continue to explore this subject to bring it to the classroom, to the entire campus and society.
Support throughout all stages of the process
We not only support you while you study, but also before you enter the university (through the University Orientation Department), during your stay at the university, together with other students on different programs and of different ages, and with the training team that lives and coexists with the students.
Once you finish your degree, as one of our Alumni, there is a program to keep you linked to your university community.
And of course, your family also has a place at the university! UFV is made up of everyone: professors, students, staff, parents, suppliers and anyone who wants to be part of the University.
