Conclusion of the ‘Character Education for University Excellence’ Programme

On 10 May, the first year of the training programme ‘Character Education for University Excellence’, which our centre has been delivering to the Educational Guidance Office of Francisco de Vitoria University, came to an end. The GOE’s mission is to ‘Accompany university students in their learning process through educational support and personal encounters, with the aim of contributing to their holistic development on their path towards fulfilment’, and at CEV we are committed to being part of this mission.

This year has been crucial in laying the foundations of character education, exploring the most important virtues for university excellence, and applying this knowledge to the educational reality of the GOE. During the final session, the main focus was on the members of the GOE team, who were tasked with selecting two real, particularly challenging cases and designing a programme to address them from the perspective of character education, while reflecting on their roles as character educators. Additionally, they have decided to initiate the process of becoming accredited as an ‘Organisation of Character’ by the Association for Character Education in the UK.

Congratulations on all the work you have accomplished; we are delighted to continue collaborating with you!

María José Curto (GOE)

“I’m very grateful to be part of this programme, the training received to reach this milestone in the GOE has been a catalyst for growth and self-awareness, a tangible way to respond to the highest vocation to which we are called: love. Our purpose warrants this effort because, as educators, it is essential to strive for the best version of ourselves in order to accompany students in building their character, guided by our own consistent example. With this accreditation, we will reinforce our office’s activities with education in values and virtues. We hope to embrace new challenges in this direction, with the dedication and responsibility it demands, and with the hopeful conviction of the positive outcomes that will emerge. This is our path towards the creation of a society oriented towards goodness and truth”.

“This year of training has provided us with the impetus to broaden our scope of work with the students and refine our approach towards them. It has enhanced the meaning of the support we offer daily, expanding its purpose. As an Educational Guidance Office, participating in this training and initiating the accreditation process has been both a great opportunity and a significant challenge, both professionally and personally. It has enriched us and inspired us to continue our training and put it into practice, so we can fully experience everything we have learnt.”
