‘Character Week’ at UFV: A Resounding Success

The Character Week took place successfully from 17 to 21 February 2025, organised by the UFV Virtue and Values Education Centre. This initiative aimed to foster the development of character and gratitude across the entire university community.

Throughout the week, various activities were held, including lectures, workshops, and film forums, featuring distinguished professors from the United Kingdom, the United States, and UFV itself: prof. Tom Harrison, prof. Kristjansson, prof. Blaine Fowers, prof. Elena Bernabéu, prof. Juan Luis Gómez, etc., whom we thank for their participation. Key topics discussed included cyber-wisdom, gratitude, forgiveness, love, and the science of virtue.

Additionally, the Gratitude Challenge was launched, encouraging participants to express their appreciation through daily actions such as writing thank-you messages or sharing reflections on a dedicated gratitude wall. On Wednesday, 19 February, the Paseo de las Humanidades was transformed with booths dedicated to the cardinal virtues, where attendees could take part in different challenges while learning more about these virtues. The area also featured a gratitude wall where people could write about what they were thankful for and a photo booth to capture special moments.

Furthermore, a literary exhibition was held in the corridor of the Central Building, showcasing selected passages from great literary works that underscored the importance of virtue and character, accompanied by beautiful illustrations.

Character Week reaffirmed UFV’s commitment to character education, emphasising the importance of virtues and values in the holistic formation of all individuals.
