All exchange students at UFV in international mobility programs (Erasmus or Bilateral) must have at the time of their application: health care, travel assistance and repatriation insurance in case of accident. In addition, the UFV may require the contracting of civil liability insurance for certain types of mobility (internships). Any of the three types of insurance mentioned must cover the entire period of stay at the UFV.
Erasmus+ mobility students
European Health Insurance Card
For Erasmus+ stays you must request the European Health Card that allows access to public health care in any of the 27 EU countries, as well as Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. More information about the European Health Insurance Card on the website of the European Commission.
The European Health Insurance Card is not an alternative to travel assistance insurance. It does not cover private health care, or costs that occur in certain circumstances such as repatriation, certain surgeries, return flights to the country of origin or the loss or theft of your belongings. For this reason, we recommend that students also take out a complementary insurance policy (see information on “private health insurance”).
The complementary insurance policies cover cases such as hospitalization in the event of an accident, including medical transfer to Spain or displacement and accommodation of relatives, etc.
- Before going to doctors and hospitals, check if they are part of the public health system and accept the European Health Insurance Card (TSE).
- On the website of the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality you will find a list of hospitals and public health centers..
Private Health Insurance
If the student is not European, they must have private medical insurance that covers them during the entire period of stay at the UFV. It is mandatory to send a copy of the contracted insurance to the International Relations Office before the start of the student’s mobility period.
The policy must include:
- Accident insurance
- Travel assistance insurance for your trips
- Health insurance
- repatriation of remains
- RECOMMENDED: COVID19 COVERAGE
