BUDDY PROGRAM 2024-2025

Welcome to all exchange students! Whether you are completing your degree at UFV or spending a semester here through an Erasmus scholarship or bilateral agreement, we understand that arriving in a new country and trying to integrate into a new culture can be challenging. Are you wondering how to get around the city, who to connect with, or how to avoid isolating yourself with just people from your own country? The Buddy Program is designed to ease your transition and enrich your experience in Spain. 

What is the Buddy Program?

The Buddy Program connects international students with local UFV students, creating buddy pairs. Your local buddy will support you during your arrival and initial adjustment in Madrid, including picking you up at the airport and accompanying you during the university’s orientation sessions. This program fosters friendships and support networks that can make your stay much more enriching and enjoyable. Additionally, your buddy will help you with practical aspects like getting around the city and familiarizing yourself with your new environment. 

Activities and events 

The Buddy Program is not just about practical help. We also organize activities to help all participants get to know each other better. This includes meals, cultural activities, weekend trips, and much more. It’s an excellent opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture and make friends from all over the world! 

Requirements for exchange students (incoming):

1. Register here before July 20.
2. Respond to your local buddy as soon as they contact you.

Voluntary activities

In addition to the aforementioned activities, we organize additional events throughout the semester, such as hiking, visiting exhibitions, going to the movies, or spending weekends in Spanish cities like Granada or Barcelona. These activities are voluntary but also offer ECTS credits depending on the nature and duration of the activity.  

The complete list of activities for the first semester will be published on September 1. Mark your calendar for the first excursion on Saturday, September 7, where you can meet all the program participants.
