EXCHANGE STUDENTS
International mentoring
Studying abroad is an exciting and transformative experience that gives you the opportunity to live in a new country, learn about a different culture, and make friends from all over the world. However, landing in a new environment can be challenging. From adapting to new customs and ways of life to overcoming language barriers, the initial transition can sometimes be overwhelming. Fortunately, with the right support, you can navigate these challenges and turn your stay abroad into an unforgettable period of personal and academic growth.
What is the International Mentoring Program?
The International Mentoring Program assigns you a tutor/mentor who, through 4 face-to-face sessions throughout the semester, helps you stay focused on your goals and aspirations for your study abroad stay, making the most of it. These sessions address topics that are important to you at the time: from living arrangements to cultural and language clashes.
Between one mentoring session and the next, we ask you to think of an action that will help you grow in the direction you are interested in (for example, obtaining a B2 level in Spanish, making Spanish friends, learning to enjoy spending time alone, etc.: everything is valid because each person is unique!).
In the mentoring team, there are people who speak Spanish, English, Italian, French, and German. You can request any of these languages for your mentorship sessions, depending on what makes you feel more comfortable.
Flexibility and personalization
Although 4 mentoring sessions is the standard, some students prefer more and others less. On the registration form, you can indicate your preference, and we will try to accommodate it.
Testimonial
“The International Mentoring Program allowed me to reflect on the meaning I wanted to give to my exchange stay in Madrid. Additionally, it showed me how I could achieve what I was looking for here in a concrete way, connecting the personal, academic, and social dimensions” – Valentina, Brazil.
